The Connection: Good ole LinkedIn DMs. Andrew played football at Stanford and we had several mutual connections.
Quote of the Episode: "I remember distinctly walking into the Stanford bookstore with my parents . . . it’s my senior year, it’s Andrew [Luck] ‘s second year playing. You could buy basically ANYTHING with the number 12 on it. You could buy a t-shirt, you could buy a hat, you could buy a jersey, I remember they had dog scarves that had a “12” on them . . . and I just remember thinking to myself, ‘There is something wrong about this.’”
Bet You Didn’t Know: Andrew’s freshman year (2006), Stanford went 1-11 and finished as the 114th ranked program in the nation…out of 119. His 5th year (2010), the team went 12-1, won the Orange Bowl, and finished ranked 4th in the final AP poll.
Note: This episode was recorded in March, several weeks before Fanstake announced its $6.25 million seed raise from Courtside, with participation from Susa Ventures, Will Ventures, Scrum Ventures, Myriad Ventures, Alumni Ventures and others.
